Undercover

The Undercover photography series shows the many sides of an everyday white bed sheet and turns them into a work of art.

 

When we are born, after emerging from the womb, we are immediately covered  in a blanket. In the Jewish tradition, when a person  dies, they are wrapped in a white sheet - a tachrich shroud - before they are buried.

During our life span, sheets cover us. They are familiar daily sleep items. 

 

Through the placement of light coming from behind the sheets, one can see the multiple designs and shadows of  cloth, softness, geometric shapes infused with breathability. The folding and tucking of the sheets takes on flat and fitted, warm aesthetic dimensions. 

​

These images also reminded the photographer of desert sand dunes she saw in the Israeli Sinai desert and the Namib desert in South Africa.
